Christmas Season

It is once again the Christmas season.  What are your holiday traditions that help keep Christ prominent during the month of December?

I've started putting baby Jesus from our nativity in the last advent box and having our presents opened by Christmas eve so that when Christmas day arrives we are focusing on Jesus with the boys and not tearing into gifts.

  1. We get together with my family for a meal and take turns reading scripture, usually some of the scripture which gives the account of Christ's birth!

  2. Good reminders - I didn't grow up with any traditions like that and am not sure what they will be for our family. Emily - I think that's a great thing to be done Christmas morning. Am interested in what worked for other families to focus on Christ!

  3. My family and I always make Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve. We make the dough from scratch... a classic sugar cookie. We also make the icing from scratch and go all out with food coloring and sprinkles. The cookie cutters we use are older than me! It is fun and yummy!

  4. We always go to service Christmas Eve, then to my Aunt Jean's for board games. In the last two years we have started an ugly sweater catwalk. All of the old family movies get pulled out too. Unfortunately, our traditions are more worldly. Keep sharing! I love hearing ideas!
